Coolest Churches Around the World

While backpacking, one of my favorite things to do is visit churches. To some this may be boring and the last thing you want to do. I get it. My mother could hardy get me to go to church every Sunday when I was a kid. I don’t consider myself religious at all, but I find churches to be awe inspiring. Many churches are works of art opposed to being just a place of worship. I also think visiting churches is great because most of the time its a free attraction. If it costs money to go inside the church, wait for Mass and walk in with the locals! They are very relaxing too, which can be nice break from any thrill seeking you do or partying at the clubs. Here are some of the coolest and most masterfully made churches around the world.

The Church of Hallgrimur, Reykjavak, Iceland

Church of the future perhaps?

Las Lajas Cathedral Colombia, South America

This Cathedral reminds me of a castle nestled in the mountains.

St. Basil’s Cathedral Moscow, Russia

The colors make St. Basil seem as if it should be in a children’s story.

Sagrada de Familia Barcelona, Spain

One of Gaudi’s most intricate and impressive works. Work is still being done on this Cathedral to complete Gaudi’s vision.

The Chapel Saint-Michel Le Puy-en-Velay, France

Have fun walking up there for a service!

Thorncrown Chapel Eureka Springs, Ar, USA

This completely open Chapel in the woods makes this one of a kind and a unique experience with nature.
