1.

Stay in a converted 1957 Railway Carriage in Castle Dee in Scotland. Located in the site of an old siding in the former Bridge of Dee Station in Scotland, this railway carriage provides two double bedrooms, two ensuite bathrooms, a fully equipped lounge area and a smaller bunk-room for children.  It is full of charm and sure to be a winner with all railway enthusiasts!

2.

Take a step into a slower pace of life by choosing a holiday on a canal boat. We love the Kennet and Avon canal around Bradford-on-Avon and we have found canal boat ‘Rachel’, who couldn’t make a better unusual place to stay! She sleeps six, has a fully functional kitchen and shower room and provides everything you would hope for from dreamy canal life.

3.

You’ve heard of ‘glamping’ but have you tried it?! We think this yurt in Devon provides the perfect place to start. It has a wood burner, wooden floors, cosy rugs and a double bed, with the option to pop up more beds for the kids. This means you can enjoy a romantic weekend away or take the whole family for a trip they’ll remember for all the right reasons!

4.

If you are looking to get back to nature, but don’t want to give up any of your home comforts take a look at Forest Holidays in the Forest of Dean. These clever tree houses are built high up in the forest canopy and are decked out with all the modern comforts, so you can truly relax in style! Unfortunately you can’t take dogs here – but you’ll have no trouble seeing why when you see what a luxury getaway these tree houses really provide!

5.

And finally there is nothing that tops a spontaneous getaway, so why not check out last minute cottages online and take your loved ones to a special location when no one’s expecting it! Cornwall is a fabulous place to do this at this time of year, as you will avoid the crazy crowds of summer time. Last minute self-catering cottages offer the added benefit of enabling you to cook up tasty meals with the whole family from the comfort of your accommodation, so you can create great memories to remember for a long time to come.

So what are you waiting for! The UK has so much to offer if you are looking for an unusual getaway – get out there and see what unusual adventures these five fantastic locations have in store for you!
