Visiting the amazing wine regions of New Zealand

New Zealand is a place that has very recently become one of the hotspots for wine around the world. Many can’t believe that they hadn’t discovered this amazing place sooner. It has some of the cleanest air and best soil to grow wine and a New Zealand wine should be on your list of things to try. Taking a wine tour is even better, here are some as suggested by Winepaths.

Napier

Napier is a great place to base yourself if you are looking to explore the vast vineyards of Hawke’s Bay, which are not located far away. These vineyards are truly gaining a worldwide reputation for great wines, in particular for the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah varieties that are produced here. A cycling tour is an ideal way to experience these vineyards, as there are so many that are located in very close proximity to one another.

Hastings

This is also another good spot in the Hawke’s Bay area to enjoy some more wineries. I would highly recommend visiting Te Mata Peak, where you can enjoy some stunning views from the 400 metre high peak. There is a road to the summit too if you want to skip the walking and experience the views as quickly as possible. This place is also home to Te Mata Estate, which is the oldest winery in all of New Zealand and has never moved from its current location. It is also considered to be one of the best vineyards in the country.

Martinborough

This is a great place to enjoy a quaint and quiet place, but don’t think that this means little wine. There are over 20 wineries in the region and many are within walking or cycling distance from the centre of the town. This makes it one of the ideal places to spend some time enjoying the fine New Zealand wine. Here is where the best pinot noir comes from. Aside from this, this is a great place to enjoy great cafes, shops and restaurants and makes it a must visit destination on any wine tour of New Zealand.

Blenheim

This is another great place located on the South Island that has over 20 wineries within driving range of the town. It is a great place to do a tour and spend some more time. In the area there is some stunning nature and driving in this part of the world is an absolute pleasure. From here you can also take a stop in Wellington and enjoy all the best of what the capital has to offer.
