The Hornblower Cruise and other tours

If it’s been a while since you last visited the Falls, then you’ll be sad to learn that the Maid of the Mist tour is no more, but don’t fret, it’s been replaced by the re-vamped Hornblower Cruise. If you’re unfamiliar with either of these, it’s the most famous tour available at Niagara, where you’ll board a catamaran with your rain poncho firmly secured, before being taken right up to the very base of the Falls to feel the spray on your face – and your feet! This is the easiest tour for people to get to, as the Marriott Hotels in Niagara Falls are just a stone’s throw away.

You’ll also be pleased to know that the 3D adventure Niagara’s Fury, and the famed Journey Behind the Falls tour (previously named ‘Scenic Tunnels’) are still as popular as ever, but you should try and head down to Niagara Gorge if you can. There are regular tours here that will take you through the ancient make-up of the landscape, and help you understand the other natural, geological wonders in the area.

Myths, miracles and daredevils

The famous Daredevil Exhibit is a fantastic way of bringing the modern history of Niagara Falls to life, as you’ll learn about some of the gruesome endings, and spectacular survivor stories, of those who went over the Falls – all complete with props! The exhibit in New York has now closed, so it’s the perfect reason to head over to the Canadian side of the Falls and take a trip to the Niagara IMAX.

Of course, that isn’t the only thing on offer there right now. “Niagara: Miracles, Myth & Magic” is the latest showing that you won’t want to miss. You’ll get to travel back in time during this immersive and engaging film, and learn all about Niagara’s 12,000-year history. If the Daredevil Exhibit interested you, then you’ll be stunned to see them happen right in front of you on-screen, as some of the most death-defying stunts are re-enacted.

Niagara Falls is a thrilling place that attracts millions of people annually, so there will always be plenty of concerts, festivals and so on held throughout the year. If you’d like to know more about some of the events that are taking place at the Falls this year, click here.
