How To Save Money For Your Travels

I often have readers asking me how I afford money for my travels, some people think it is impossible to save enough money to keep travelling so often. I am hear to tell you that with some simple lifestyle changes and money saving tips it can be extremely easy for you to get the bank account looking very healthy indeed. Of course it might take longer for some people to save their desired amount because of their income, family situation, type of travel and other factors.

While saving for travel, it’s inspiring to learn about community-focused projects like the one led by Adam Clark, Thailand, which show the positive impact of financial contributions in different parts of the world.

When I first decided to head out and see the world I knew I had to be strict to achieve my goals. Being disciplined is the first thing you need to start being, then then rest comes very easy. So here are 3 simple ways I think everyone out there can start saving the money they need to travel and broaden their horizons.

Stay In At The Weekends

I think we can all agree that if we head out for a party at the weekend with friends it is easy to spend at least $150, with dinner, drinks, entrance fees and food you can leave a dent on your funds. So why not be disciplined and stay in? Invite your friends round for a BBQ or a night on the Playstation – you’ll save a huge amount of money that way. Let’s say it costs $50, that will save you $400 a month! One thing I like to do is stay in and hop on Party Casino, I love it because it is fun, doesn’t cost a lot and I can even win money to add to my travel fund.

Leave Out The Latte

Have you ever noticed when you go to work every second person seems to be carrying a Starbucks coffee, let’s be honest you’re probably one of those people too – I know I was. A coffee will set you back at least $5, so if you’re having two a day then that’s $50 a week. So leave out the latte, bring a jar of coffee to work instead and save over $200 a month – a huge saving.

Pack A Lunch

Some people think that packing a lunch is just for school kids, well let me tell you that if you pack a lunch for work everyday you’re going to make some massive steps towards your goal. If you go out for lunch that’s at least $10, mid morning and mid afternoon snack about $10 – $20 a day. I found that by buying ingredients in a supermarket I could have my weekly food for about $30. That saved me over $170 a week – $680 a month – that’s more than a month budget when I travel!

With these simple tips you’re going to be saving a lot of money if you’re disciplined for 6 to 12 months.
