Bright, brash and brilliant – Benidorm!

Anyone who has ever seen the ITV hit show, Benidorm, will know all about sun, sea and sand. Thankfully, you probably won’t meet the characters from the show, or become embroiled in their dramas, however you will be guaranteed a damn good summer holiday, with all the trimmings.

A great choice for families or groups alike, you’ll find many cheap flights heading over to Alicante, with a short transfer to resort from there. A great suggestion for making your bargain break even cheaper is to take advantage of great value airport extras, such as Stansted airport car parking. I recently used this service and can’t rave about it enough. All large UK airports have a airport parking service, so check out what’s available near you and get ready to save and chill prior to your flight!

Benidorm is easy to get around on foot, and I always find this a great way to discover things you wouldn’t have if you were in a car. However, if you do have the opportunity, hiring a car is a great way to go further afield and explore. A day out in Alicante is highly recommended, with its pretty castle and many shopping opportunities.

Back in resort, and the day time is all about lazing around the hotel pool, or hitting the beach. The resort’s main beach is busy, and during peak season it can get very crowded, so for a slightly less busy beach, head to Levante. However, Playa de Poniente, the main beach, is the easiest to get to, and you’ll find everything you need for a day’s sun-lounging or splashing in the sea. For an alternative splash around, the aptly named Aqualandia, as featured on the TV show, is a great day out for all the family.

The Old Town is certainly worth a wander down to, with quaint little shops and winding streets, however if you’re after bargains, you’re in the right place, so head to Passeig de la Carreterra for the bulk of them.

When the stars come out, the action in Benidorm hots up and there’s certainly no shortage of places to visit and parties to dance at! If you fancy a quiet night, there are many restaurants to chill-out in, especially in the Old Town, with more Spanish traditional restaurants serving local cuisine and tapas. However, there are many British pubs and international restaurants around the resort, so nobody will go hungry.

Benidorm is a traditional Spanish seaside holiday, the kind that brings to mind memories of sun-soaked days on the beach and evening meals with the family. There are many great value deals to Benidorm, and the TV show has done wonders for the popularity of the resort. Remember my tip of airport parking, and you’ll save precious Euros to spend in resort. My friend swears by Luton parking, and I’ve never been disappointed with any of the services I’ve booked, so definitely check that out.

For sun, sea and plenty of fun, Benidorm is the perfect choice, and not a hint of Marge in sight!
