Everyone wants to live on water front property that is why it is valued so much higher. There is something really soothing about living near a large body of water and it is only natural that people like to visit cities that are also close to large bodies of water.
Venice
Venice, Italy is a beautiful city that is built on a series of canals. You can take a romantic gondola ride through the Grand Canal and view the beautiful brightly coloured buildings that line the sides. The Rialto Bridge traverses the Grand Canal and it is also a great way to see the Grand Canal. Be sure to check out Piazzo San Marco, St. Mark’s Basilica, and the iconic Bridge of Sighs. There are no roads for vehicles so the best ways to get around are by foot or by boat. Shopping is great and you can buy hand blown Venetian glass ornaments or jewelry.
Dubrovnik
Dubrovnik is a stunning, fortified city, in Croatia on the Adriatic Sea. The Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and you can take guided tours of the area or explore on your own. You can also enter the city walls and walk through the fortifications. Be sure to eat the freshly prepared seafood and sample the locally made wine after your day of exploring this magnificent city. Base yourself in some of the gorgeous Split hotels and head over to Dubrovnik once you’re settled in Croatia.
Vancouver
Vancouver in Canada is a beautiful city with the Pacific Ocean off the West and mountains off to the North. This is a fabulous city for walking and there is a seawall that allows you to walk all the way around it. Stanley Park is the largest metropolitan park in the world and it contains beautiful nature, beaches, beautiful cultural monuments like totem poles, and a fantastic Aquarium to take the family to. There are many fabulous restaurants, and stores to keep you entertained as well. Just a short distance outside of the city is Grouse Mountain where you can take a tram up to the highest point in Vancouver and see the view.
Rio de Janeiro
Rio de Janeiro is a gorgeous city on the east coast of Brazil and it is known for its glorious beaches like Copacabana and Ipanema Beach. The statue of Christ the Redeemer is listed as one of the new 7 Wonders of the World and the 30 metre tall statue dominates the skyline of Rio de Janeiro. Carnival is a five day festival that ends on Ash Wednesday just before the start of Lent. It is a huge celebration with elaborate costumes, and people partying for days on end.
Sydney
Sydney, Australia is a beautiful city and the Sydney Opera House is a landmark that graces its skyline. A great place for viewing the skyline is the Sydney Harbour Steel Bridge, a massive arched bridge with a lookout. No trip to Sydney is complete without a visit to Bondi Beach where you can spend the day people watching, surfing, or just relaxing on the magnificent white sandy beaches that the area is famous for. Whether you’re there for 2 weeks or just stopping in on a longer trip around Australia you’ll absolutely love this incredible city.
