New York City offers a variety of attractions, cuisine, places to see, and things to do within the city limits. The Meatpacking District of New York City is part of Manhattan, running from Gansevoort Street to West 14th Street and from the Hudson River to Hudson Street. It is an area of town that truly never sleeps, so there is always fun to be had in the Meatpacking District, and some of these things to do and see should be on your list.
The High Line

In an area of town where partying is on the agenda, the High Line is a place of respite. It is a park that stretches from Gansevoort Street to West 30th Street. Park goers can lounge or enjoy the sights because the park sits at an elevation that provides views of three neighborhoods. Along with sculptures and photographs, the park features 300 plants, grasses, trees, shrubs, and perennials — most of them native to the area.
SoHo House
The SoHo House is a combination private club and hotel. The hotel features 24 “bedrooms.” Each room has its own signature style and ranges in size from 325 square feet to 950 square feet. SoHo House also offers its own private screening room, a rooftop bar with a pool, library, restaurant, bar, and game room.
Hotel Gansevoort
The Hotel Gansevoort is a luxury hotel in the heart of the Meatpacking District. Its rooftop pool hits depths of 45 feet and is heated year round. Music plays on the deck of the pool but is also piped underwater so you can hear it when swimming underwater in the pool. The rooftop also features a garden and a loft with ceilings that reach 20 feet. The loft offers a three-direction view of the city below.
Spice Market
Spice Market is a restaurant serving Asian cuisine. The interior décor is as interesting as the cuisine itself. The restaurant is home to exotic artifacts imported from areas of the world such as Malaysia, Rajasthan, South India, and Burma.
Galleries
The Whitney Museum is set to move into the Meatpacking District in 2015. For years now, however, numerous galleries have been featuring artists and works using different media. Three of the top galleries to see in the District include the Underline Gallery, the Heller Gallery, and the Ivy Brown Gallery. The Underline Gallery focuses on one medium at a time, so for its gold exhibit, all of the pieces revolved around gold. The Heller Gallery showcases glass sculptures, and the Ivy Brown gallery is known for its Catholic focus in various media — photographs, paintings, and sculptures.
